Leg 1

The seventh season of The Amazing Race Teen Edition which is most probably the final season of the Amazing Race Teen Edition, gave its starting signal in Starbucks, Sunway Pyramid. The host handed all four teams their first clue directing them back to Starbucks itself in a hunt for their next clue. Struggles occur for all four teams in search of the hidden clue. Matthew and Yao Chern made an alliance with Hon Sang and Sheng Ling that resulted in finding the hidden clue while Jeremy and Jo Ann along with Phoebe and Sayaka followed closely behind.

Both teams Matthew and Yao Chern along with Hon Sang and Sheng Ling reached the Blue Atrium first and second and were told a Roadblock is right up ahead. A Roadblock is a task where only one member from each team can perform. In this Roadblock one member from each team have to find a note written ‘CLUE’ pasted somewhere around the Sunway Lagoon Entrance. Matthew opted to be his team representative and so did Hon Sang. Jeremy and Phoebe joined in not much later.

After sunbathing below the hot sun for quite sometime, Hon Sang was the first to complete the Roadblock successfully. The clue directed his team to find a mannequin and then to the pit stop located in the large Japanese/Korean style shopping area also famously known as Asian Avenue. With Sheng Ling extensive experience in Sunway Pyramid, Hon Sang and Sheng Ling claimed first place just like that.

Phoebe completed her Roadblock next and later Matthew, leaving Jeremy to struggle to find the other clue even though Phoebe had already tried to assist Jeremy. Despite having an early head start, Phoebe and Sayaka failed to find the mannequin and eventually allowing Matthew and Yao Chern and even Jeremy and Jo Ann to catch up. In the end, Phoebe and Sayaka were disappointed to hear the news that Matthew and Yao Chern claimed 2nd place while Jeremy and Jo Ann claimed 3rd leaving Phoebe and Sayaka take 4th and last. Fortunately for them, this was the first out of two pre-determination and non-elimination leg. They were also later warned that later in the next leg, a Speedbumb task will occur and only Phoebe and Sayaka have to perform for being last in this leg.

Leg 2

After and hour plus of mandatory lunch break, Hon Sang and Sheng Ling who were first in the previous leg were given the a riddle clue, “1400” which suppose to means 2pm.com. Crisis struck them as they failed to solve the riddle. This eventually allows Matthew and Yao Chern along with Jeremy and Jo Ann to catch up. Meanwhile, Phoebe and Sayaka completed their extra Speedbumb task, which is playing a dancing machine till it ends, in ease. All teams except Hon Sang and Sheng Ling eventually found the next clue and head to Apple Tree to complete a detour.

Detour is a task between two choices with each it’s own pros and cons. In this detour, teams have to choose a task between ‘In & Out’ and ‘Up & Down’. In ‘In & Out’, teams will be given 3 sets of forms that contained 5 odd questions. Team’s mission is to get 3 passersby to complete the forms. Once done, they will trade the 3 forms with their next clue. In ‘Up & Down’, teams have to find their next clue located around the border of the ice rink stadium at all 4 four floors. ‘Up & Down’ is relatively much more easier compared to ‘In & Out’ but going up and down the floors proved to be exhausting that might affects their stamina needed in the rest of the race.

Jeremy and Jo Ann along with Matthew and Yao Chern chose ‘Up & Down’ thinking that by forming an alliance they could get the Detour done more quickly. Meanwhile Phoebe and Sayaka chose ‘In & Out’ instead. Once again, in ease the all girls team completed the detour and sped of to 1901. At 1901, they took the chance to U-turn team Hon Sang and Sheng Ling for Sheng Ling has the highest extend of experience in Sunway Pyramid. A team may use their U-Turn ability to force another team to backtrack and complete the Detour option they did not previously complete.

Meanwhile, Jeremy and Jo Ann finally decided to switch task after failing to complete the other. They were joined by Sheng Ling and Hon Sang not later on. Matthew and Yao Chern insisted that ‘Up & Down’ is a better challenge and the alliance with Jeremy and Jo Ann broke. Jeremy and Jo Ann completed the detour and later joined Phoebe and Sayaka to find Titan. It was right after that very moment the two teams were on a race to the pit stop located at Apple Tree using a transparent lift. Jeremy and Jo Ann reached the finish point first but was unable to check in for they did not use the transparent lift as directed. Unwillingly, they have to retrace their steps and this gave Phoebe and Sayaka to steal 1st. Jeremy and Jo Ann took 2nd.

Hon Sang and Sheng Ling completed the detour earlier while Matthew and Yao Chern finally decided to switch task. However, to Hon Sang and Sheng Ling’s shock, they were extremly angered by the fact that they were U-turned by Phoebe and Sayaka. Albeit having to do the other detour and was tired by it, they were still tied in a footrace towards the Pit Stop with Matthew and Yao Chern. It was Hon Sang and Sheng Ling who got 3rd after Matthew and Yao Chern also failed to use the transparent lift to the Pit Stop. Matthew and Yao Chern were the first to be eliminated from The Amazing Race Teen Edition Season 7.

Leg 3

Leg 3 begun with a clue leading Phoebe and Sayaka first to Tokyo.G. Everything went smoothly for Phoebe and Sayaka with Jeremy and Jo Ann along with Hon Sang and Sheng Ling tailing behind. However, it was a riddle clue directing teams to Zing paralyzed Hon Sang and Sheng Ling in their race.

Meanwhile, Phoebe and Sayaka took a wrong turn when heading towards Ying Yang giving Jeremy and Jo Ann a chance to take the lead. Detour then befall the teams at Ying Yang. In this Detour, teams have to choose a task between ‘Samsung’ and ‘Motorola’. In ‘Samsung’, teams will be given a brochure and teams have to absorb as much information about the Samsung brochure at any time rate. Once they think they are ready, they will undergo a test of 10 questions. For each question wrong, 1-minute penalty will occur on the team. In ‘Motorola’, team will be given a Motorola cell phone that will then be use to play a game called Crazy. All teams have to do is to win 1 round of the game in order to obtain their next clue. ‘Motorola’ could be easy for those who have fingers for video games but because only 1 cell phone is available, teams might have to take turn or force to opt the memory detour.

Jeremy and Jo Ann chose ‘Motorola’ knowing that being the first; waiting in line is not necessary for this task. It took awhile but eventually Jeremy got the hang of the game before Phoebe and Sayaka joined in later. Unwilling to wait, Phoebe and Sayaka chose ‘Samsung’. It was a battle between Jeremy’s video game skills against Phoebe’s memory talent. A slight war broke out when Jeremy and Jo Ann attempted to disturb Phoebe and Sayaka during the memorizing phase of the task, which ultimately put Jeremy and Jo Ann in the lead once again. Before proceeding, Jeremy and Jo Ann made a pack with Phoebe and Sayaka and agreed in yielding Hon Sang and Sheng Ling in the yield station that is about to occur. Yield allows any one team to force another team to stop racing for a predetermined amount of time. The race continues with Jeremy and Jo Ann stole 1st while Phoebe and Sayaka took 2nd at the pit stop located at the manmade Christmas garden in the mall itself.

On the other side, by sheer luck, Hon Sang and Sheng Ling found the clue at Zing. They then took their sweet time at the detour picking ‘Motorola’ then switch to ‘Samsung’ and at the Yield station. However, despite being last, they were told that this was the last pre-determination and non-elimination leg of the race. Hon Sang and Sheng Ling were than told that only their team has to complete a Speedbumb task somewhere in the final leg.

Would Sheng Ling’s great knowledge and experience in Sunway Pyramid overcome the Speedbumb and the time gap with the lead? Would Phoebe and Sayaka continue to awe other teams despite being last in the first leg or would Jeremy and Jo Ann win for they are the most stable team and the only team that did not get last place yet?

Final Leg

At 5.10pm, team Jeremy and Jo Ann sped off to VOIR and were eventually joined by Phoebe and Sayaka. The two teams doubted each other’s direction and eventually split up. Much to Jeremy and Jo Ann’s regret, Phoebe and Sayaka were first to reach VOIR. Despite that, the two teams reconnected in order to find a landmark in Sunway Pyramid with a row of noble eagles staring at the entrance. Meanwhile, Hon Sang and Sheng Ling stumbled upon a sudoku challenge Speedbumb for being last in the previous leg. Approximately 5 minutes were stolen from them before Hon Sang and Sheng Ling continued on the race.

Phoebe and Sayaka eventually figured out where to find the row of eagles but instead of assisting Jeremy and Jo Ann, team Phoebe and Sayaka tossed Jeremy and Jo Ann aside by lying about the directions. Phoebe and Sayaka were first to reach the Detour. In this Detour, teams have to choose between ‘Spell’ and ‘Stone’. In ‘Spell’ teams will be given a complicated English word and teams’ objective is to spell that particular word correctly. In ‘Stone’, teams will be given a list of gemstones and their colors. Teams have to match the stones with their respective colors correctly in order to get their next clue.

Phoebe and Sayaka chose ‘Stone’ while Jeremy and Jo Ann eventually figured out that Phoebe and Sayaka had tricked them about the rows of eagles. With the help of some passersby, team Jeremy and Jo Ann managed to meet up with the all girls team but chose ‘Spell’ instead, in the Detour. Once again Jeremy and Jo Ann were up against Phoebe and Sayaka in a different detour task. Both teams faced a slight problem in their own detour. Jeremy and Jo Ann’s powerful English misspelled ‘pshaw’ (pronounced: shaw) with ‘shore’ and ‘shawl’ while Phoebe and Sayaka were unable to tell apart the colors between amber and carnelian. Unlike the previous detour, it was team Phoebe and Sayaka who finished first this time.

Team Jeremy and Jo Ann eventually gave up and tried the ‘Stone’ task and managed to complete it in only 2 tries. Right after that then only Hon Sang and Sheng Ling joined in later. Immediately after that, both Hon Sang and Sheng Ling faced difficulties in both task misspelling ‘pshaw’ with ‘shawe’ and giving the wrong colors to onyx, rose quartz and turquoise.

On the way to Baskin Robin Café, Phoebe and Sayaka made a wrong turn to Baskin Robin Ice Cream Stall instead. This gave Jeremy and Jo Ann a chance to catch up and took the lead once again. Unfortunately, during the race, Jeremy was struck with leg cramp and had to limp all the way of the race. On the race to McDonald, Phoebe and Sayaka managed to outrun Jeremy and Jo Ann and was first to reach the Roadblock station.

In this Roadblock, one member from each team will have to answer 3 poll questions regarding the personalities about all the contestants based on the poll made before the race. Teams have to answer the questions by using the numbers assigned on each contestant. The 3 numbers obtain will then be used to open a lock of a box. Inside the box contains the next clue. Having an early head start, Sayaka chose to take the 3-minute penalty after a couple of wrong tries. The clock was ticking as Jeremy and Jo Ann rush to the Roadblock station despite Jeremy’s bad leg cramp. In the end, team Jeremy and Jo Ann were unable to get to the Roadblock station in time as team Phoebe and Sayaka swept of the competition and won the title ‘Winner of The Amazing Race Teen Edition Season 7’ at the finish line located in Marakesh.

Jeremy and Jo Ann came as runner-up of the race even after Jo Ann too had taken the 3 minutes penalty in the Roadblock. Meanwhile Hon Sang and Sheng Ling couldn’t finish their Detour and eventually opted to drop out.
